I have been braiding a blue rug and I need fabric, but I am determined not to buy any. The pieces of leftover fabric I used to back the Flour Sack Quilt had more than I remembered. So before stripping it for the rug, I made up two sets of Pillowcases to go with the quilt. The Prairie Paisley print is continental style and has a pocket to totally enclose the pillow. The plaid cases are just a standard case. I think they will look good on the bed with the quilt.
Some of you dear readers have asked for a finished photo of the quilt hanging in the Show. How about half a quilt hanging in the show? My apologies to Erin. For some reason the I-phone photo that your Father took cut you off when it uploaded. Here's part of the quilt and one daughter, ladies. The Springville show has ended but it will be hanging for two weeks in St. George at the Utah Quilt Fest and then a curator has requested for it another show at an exhibit for the Frontier Homestead Project in a state park museum. That exhibit runs for 3 months and maybe I can get a better photo of it then. It's becoming better traveled than I. I'm so glad to be finished with it so I can move on to another quilting project.

Oh Bonnie the quilt is beautiful ! { the daughter too }.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a sack flour quilt before, never even thought about making one but now the wheels are turning. Did you collect your flour sacks over time or just hit a pay load at one time ? Absolutely beautiful !
Your quilt & YOUR DAUGHTER are stunning. Happy to see both.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cheyenne and Eileen.
ReplyDeleteEileen, The flour sacks were collected over several years time. My husband actually bought all of them from different places. He had an idea that I would make a quilt and he did a great job of getting some very nice graphics. All of them have some sort of meaning to our family.
It's a terrific quilt. Wish I could see it in person. The pillowcases will be just right with it. Good work!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is wonderful! How fun for you that it is traveling!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea and a marvelous execution of it! I will have to tune in from time to time so I can see the whole thing when you post it.
ReplyDeleteWOW, I love your quilt and can see why it is so popular! Beautiful model to display your beautiful quilt:)
ReplyDeleteMy grandma worked at the Springville Art Gallery and mom took us to the quilt show every year. I should have gone this year. How great that you're sharing your beautiful quilt.
