We need snow badly. This week there are some storms lined up and today this is the view outside the front door.
When the temperature drops here and it snows, a person needs some seriously warm winter wool socks and luckily I cast off one such sock this morning. It looks wrinkly and funny above but it looks much better on a foot. I love this artisan yarn I purchased in Durango, CO.
This pattern is Wendy Johnson's Toe Up Trilobite socks and I cast it off the needles using Jeny's amazingly stretchy bind off technique. A stretchy bind off is so important when knitting toe up socks if you want to be able to pull the socks over your calves and I made these socks quite long for warmth. This is the best stretchy bind off I've found.
I'm casting on for sock number two today.

ReplyDeleteYour sock is gorgeous -- I love the colors. Have fun with the second sock!
Pretty socks. Thanks for the info in case I ever knit socks! I have crocheted some slipper socks that I wear around the house. Love it when my feet are warm.
ReplyDeleteSnowing means it's a good time for handiwork, yes? Great sock!!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous socks! That is too cool. No snow here today despite what weather.com had to say. The ski resorts are dying. But it sure was bitter outside. I just can't get over how gorgeous that sock is.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun sock pattern. I am just branching out to an easy lacy one called Hedgerow on Ravelry.com . I am interested in your stretchy bind-off. I will have to try it. Right now I am midway through sock 2 so I will have to try the stretchy bind off for my next pair. happy knitting!
