Fall is my favorite season.
and lots of black-eyed Susan's and lemon balm in my garden (and sometimes on my cakes. They're organic).
I always make this yummy apple dip when the first new apples are available. It has a hint of maple syrup and just a touch of brown sugar. And who doesn't love cream cheese?
Is it healthy? Of course not, but who cares!?! It's dessert.
When my girls were little, I used to pack single portions of the dip in little disposable condiment cups with lids (like ketchup comes in), then I tossed sliced apples in ascorbic acid (Fruit Fresh in the USA) to keep them from going brown and put them in plastic baggies. Then into the girls lunch boxes it all went. Rumor had it that their apples and dip could be traded for anything in the lunchroom. I don't think my girls traded much though. That dip was just too good to trade for anything!
Fall Apple Dip
8 ounces of cream cheese at room temperature
1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of white sugar
2 Tablespoons of pure maple syrup
Mix cream cheese until smooth.
Add the sugars and maple syrup and blend.
Whip in the cream just until the dip is creamy and smooth.
Serve cold with crisp fall apple slices.
This makes about 1 1/2 cups of dip.
I love fall crisp apples fresh from the tree; pumpkins, squash, gourds;
crunchy red leaves underfoot;and lots of black-eyed Susan's and lemon balm in my garden (and sometimes on my cakes. They're organic).
I LOVE FALL!

It's still a big hit at our house.

Perfect little goodie for my book club ladies when they come in a few weeks! Apples are so lovely, so pretty, so sweet. I love fall, too. Do you have a good spiced cider recipe? Have a great day, good Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteI make a variation of your apple dip too, but it doesn't have the maple syrup. I like that touch!
ReplyDeleteI never thought of dipping apples, but this sounds delicious!!! I toss apples in a little lemon juice and it also keeps them from going brown. xx
ReplyDeleteMy dip doesn't use the maple syrup either! Have to give that a try. What a wonderful mother to pack that in their lunches. They will always love this season just for that. I used to pack my own lunches in high school with fresh tomatoes in the fall with a knife and the sandwich bread prepared with mayo. Don't think I could get away with that now, but I would find some good plastic knife.
ReplyDeleteI love fall too.
Wow does this all look good. That cake looks over the moon.
ReplyDeleteYummy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting the recipe.
Smiles :)

Oooh, yum -- thanks for a wonderful recipe. I love to dip apples -- mostly in caramel, but a cream cheese dip will do nicely too!!!
ReplyDeleteI made this for my granddaughter's 2nd birthday party. It was fun to watch the kids hesitate, dip their apples, and dig in for more. It was a hit with the kids and the parents, thank you for posting!

Yummy! You have been pretty busy. How is the house coming along?
ReplyDeleteFall Is my favorite too, Bonnie. Utah is so gorgeous in the fall....how lucky you are. I love the cake with the flowers! I can see why your girls would hang onto their apple dip!
ReplyDeleteHi--
