Barbecued Brisket For Super Bowl Sunday

Super bowl food is all over blog land this week.  It should be easy to eat in front of the TV.
For the record, I don't much care for football.  I'm a wimp when it comes to sitting in the cold stadium and I get a bit bored watching on television.  But I like the hearty man-pleasing football food and I always enjoy the commercials.
My favorite do-ahead meat would be perfect for those of you who do watch the game.  I love brisket and it can be prepared ahead of time as it cooks long and slow. Get up early, pop it in the oven, and then salivate as the aroma wafts out into the room.  For Super Bowl Sunday, break it up into smaller shreds (it should just fall apart.  I made a special effort to keep my slices intact) and serve it up on warm crusty rolls.

This recipe comes from the Pioneer Woman and it's a winner.  She calls it tangy tomato brisket.
You can find the recipe here.

  4. This looks so yummy for anytime of year - summer BBQs and picnics and for the cold weather now. I can almost smell it! Wouldn't it be great if we had smell a vision? Or better yet, those little machines the Jetson's had so we could find anything online and program it in and we had it come out?

  6. Brisket is one of my favorites. It sounds like it would be great on a bun. Yum. It looks like you have had lots of wintry weather. I can see that knitting and cooking would be a great antidote. Love sharing your slice of the world.
