Excuse my Absence

I've been away.  We stayed in a B & B in the most charming little Gold Rush Town in California on Halloween.

We couldn't have planned it better (if we had actually planned it).  The 1850's town was perfect for Halloween decorating .  The entire historic district looked like this.  Never have I seen a better Halloween trick or treating community.  Hundreds and hundreds of parents, grandparents and little ones in some of the best costumes I have ever seen.  There were several Spook Alleys too.

This was my favorite costume.  Three little girls each were under their own clear vinyl umbrellas with black lights and white streamers hanging from the spokes of their umbrellas.  You really couldn't see the little girls....the perfect jelly fish costumes.
And almost every house for blocks and blocks was decorated.  The homeowners in costumes themselves sat on the porches and handed out candy.

Here's the outside of our B & B.  I loved the red lights and spider webs.  There was a huge human-sized spider on the porch roof just above the door.  The yard was a giant graveyard.  The inside parlor was decorated too.
Nevada City, California put on one of the best Halloween celebrations ever!  Hope your holiday was spooky and fun.  On to Thanksgiving!
