Candied Roasted Nuts

Have you ever been on the street at Christmas time and smelled the sweet, nutty flavor of roasting nuts and cinnamon wafting through the air?  If you follow your nose you might find a vendor cart selling candied nuts, wrapped in paper cones.  They are a bit pricey purchased from a vendor.  You'll keep on eating and eating and eating until someone takes them away....probably by force.
Now you can eat as many as you want, because you can make them at home and they are quite economical., easy and fast.   My friend Linda shared a delicious recipe with me for plain sugared nuts.  I thought, "Why not add some cinnamon and maybe some vanilla.  So I tweaked her recipe just a bit (even though it didn't need a thing).  I just happen to like some cinnamon and some salt.  You might want to add a pinch of cayenne or some savory herbs.  These would be great at a cocktail party.
The nuts on the left are plain sugar and the ones on the right have cinnamon.  Wrap these in paper cones or do as I did; packaged them in a cellophane bag tied them with some twine.  They are destined for my neighbors.  They would also be excellent tossed into a green salad with a sweet vinaigrette.

I'm waiting for the phone to ring with recipe requests.

  1. Yummy! I wish nuts liked me, but I always feel horrible after I eat them. Of course I still eat them! Your neighbors are going to be singing your praises!
