Ana, that is a feather boa; left over from an old costume.
Jodi, the painting is by a Utah artist, LeConte Stewart, done in the early 1940's of a Pennsylvania farm. I like it to and it is sort of "fall-ish" isn't it.
What a lovely decorating touch you have. My daughter is still traumatized by the decorations our old neighbors in Virginia had the past few years. Looks like your neighbors might be related to them! Maybe your tasteful decorating will rub off on them. One can always hope!
I knit, garden, bake, and sew. I create something every day, even if it's just a mess in my kitchen.
“I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived.” ― Marjorie Pay Hinckley
Fun mantel. Makes me want to go shopping and get some fun things!
ReplyDeleteYikes! We have neighbors who do it up big for Halloween, too!
ReplyDeleteI like your mantel. So pretty! You have such a lovely house.
You're so good -- I didn't really decorate this year since I'll be away at market. Is that a feather boa? Very clever!
ReplyDeleteNice mantel. Is that painting a picture of your own house? I love it!
ReplyDeleteThat is one creepy cemetery next door.

ReplyDeletePerfectly done. I am not into the scarey at all. Love what you did.
ReplyDeleteSo cute Bonnie! Doesn't it make your house feel cheery having all those fun things scattered around? Loving fall here in the wild west!
