They're Baaack!!!!!!!

It's summer.  I know that because the quail are back.
I saw a family of 16 scurrying across the garden wall this afternoon.  14 new babies!!!!

They are so cute and I haven't had a snail in years.  Now if I could just get them to stop digging holes in the garden with their wings and dislodging my new plants and seeds.  I wonder if I could train them to eat the rose aphids.  Then they would really earn their keep.

  1. How cute they are! Although, I'm sorry to tell you, one of my favorite things to eat when I was young was the quail my dad hunted -- of course not babies! Does that make me a bad person ;(?

  3. They really are so sweet when they are this size. How nice they return year after year. There must be good pickings in your garden :-). I always love to visit your blog. You've created a lovely spot for your readers and I always enjoy the time I spend here. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary

  4. Hi Bonnie -- I love all the little quail babies. We used to have them in Lindon, but in the desert I haven't seen them. They always used to scare me in the bushes. Maybe you can adapt their diet:).

  5. My cousins had a big quail place just north of Ephriam for a few years. Your little babies are soooo cute.

I tried to send you an e-mail but it bounced back from the addy you left in my comments. Will you please e-mail me and then I can respond? We MUST address that red door LOL!!!

  6. So sweet. I know they are digging up your garden, but geez, they're cute. I did not know quail would nest and hatch near a home. Maybe that's country quail.

  7. Oh -- we had a little family consisting of about 10 babies, Mamma and Daddy. Now we only see one little one in the yard -- we are sad and wondering what happened to the rest of them :-(
