Spring

This is what spring is looking like around these parts....few flower blossoms, meager buds on the current bushes, no poppies out yet (usually they are almost gone by Heritage Day here), and (thank goodness) hardly even any weeds.   It has been cold, and wet, and rainy.  We will have flooding; not if-but when.  The sandbags are being piled on the streets of the town in readiness.

I managed to plant a few flowers during the one break that we had in the rain.

We have about 250% of our normal snowpack.  That's huge!!!!  The only bright spot is that here in our arid high mountain desert climate we haven't needed to turn on the irrigation and use the sprinklers.

We had to mow and then rake the grass up after twice this weekend because it was so long.  I did manage to put a few pansies in the urn.

They are safe from freezing unlike most flowers that I can plant before June.  Tender plants still have a week or two until they'll be safe from a late frost.

The forecast calls for rain the next two days and then sun for a few days.  Look out.... here comes the flooding

  1. I have started picking up the flower flats and veges this past week. I think we may be past the frost now. We usually start planting Memorial weekend. Only have a basket of pansies planted at this time also.

  3. Hope you are safe from the floods. It seems that Mother nature has been rather brutal this year. It's good to check in with you again. Ina's soup looks so good.
