Did you wonder what happened to me this last week? A friend asked where I had been. Was I off on a fabulous vacation? Nooo... I was outside my sewing room, in my new socks, dreading the task at hand, and Erin came by and offered to help me get started; just the push I needed.
I've been holed up here for the last few days, going through every scrap of fabric, magazine, book, and notion. I've already made one run to Goodwill, have a stack of magazines for my quilt guild to look at, and donated to our local Brownie troop. Bags of fabric and patterns went to the high school home-ec sewing teacher. Luckily, there seems to be a better use for most of my things than just languishing in my closets and cupboards. There are piles everywhere waiting to be sorted, donated or returned to the cupboards. And...it's going to get a lot messier before I'm done. It can't be helped.
Believe it or not, I am not a pack rat. Really, I'm not. My husbandjokingly tells people if they stand still in one place for too long they will be put away or thrown out. Obviously, that does not apply to yarn, quilt, or sewing supplies. If you read my obituary, get over to my house quickly. I have some seriously good stuff Ladies!!! I've been collecting for years.
The other day a blog reader asked me where my recipes were this week. Here's my answer: I stopped by a friend's house today and she gave me a wonderful cupcake for the road. It was fabulous, the best I had ever tasted. When I got home I had to call and tell her so. Funny thing, she told me it was a recipe I had given her. It tasted much better than I remembered. She made some tweaks of her own (which I'm going to be begging for). So I'm counting that as my contribution to baking this week. It's a STRETCH, I know but there won't be any cupcakes or baking coming from my house until I get this room in order. 'Til then, keep me in your thoughts and if there are no postings on this blog in the near future, send someone in to look for me.

So, that's where you've been! It's a big job, but it will sure feel good when it's done! That's funny about the cupcake recipe, Bonnie:) This post made me chuckle! Good Luck!
ReplyDeletewhoa nice work mom! I haven't seen it that clean since it's been a bedroom.

ReplyDeleteI am trying to do the same in my office. I seem to be creating pile after pile and not getting anywhere. I will not give up until it is the inspiring place I need to work:)
ReplyDeleteGood Luck to you I am a new visitor and follower from Fresh and Clean...
Oh my gosh, do I feel your pain as well as your joy in cleaning out your stuff and some of your stash. But I have to admit, I simply cannot take anything out of my sewing/quilting room. That's still so off-limits to me! But what a feeling that I'm getting from cleaning out the junk that somehow continues to grow! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this awesome and so inspirational post over on Fresh Clean and Pure Friday and Seasonal Saturday last week. I truly appreciate it and hope you can stop by with another great post this weekend through Tuesday again at La Bella Vita, Roz
