So...maybe you heard about the Volcano ash problem in Europe; 16,000 flights grounded in 20 different countries in Europe. Oh, and not to mention our non-stop flight to Paris. It was cancelled. I am actually grateful that we were not over the Atlantic Ocean and that we didn't have to turn around back to the U.S. We are fine but our daughter is stranded in London. Luckily, she hadn't caught her train to Paris yet, or she would have been stranded there; alone. At least she is in a city she is familiar with. We are grateful. If we only can get her home sometime soon. She is safe and we are grateful for that. Before I left, I prepared some posts to go up in my abscence. Well, I'm home but we've been a bit busy trying to cancel 2 weeks of travel plans and reschedule my daughter's. So even though I'm still here, I haven't had much time to cook or blog. I'll be back in the swing of things soon but in the meantime, here are the scheduled posts. Pretend that I am in Paris and Germany, eating lovely bread and macarons and I'll be back soon.
My friend Cindi keeps chickens. And horses, and cats, and all kinds of animals, and she is so knowledgeable about so many things. She also does endurance riding; she is pretty amazing. Today she graciously brought me these eggs. Aren't they just about the most beautiful things you have ever seen?

I love the bright orange yolks of farm fresh eggs. And I will make something wonderful with them; just as soon as I can bring myself to use them. For now, I am just happy looking at all the different blues, and greens, and pinkish-brown shells. What a treat to have farm fresh eggs! Cristie (the Table Runner) published a post about knowing where your food comes from; a very good idea. I know where these eggs came from; a good friend! Thank you Cindi. They don't get any fresher or prettier or better than this.
First of all I love that house in your header...my favorite pioneer style house and I would love to live in. Second I just got a book in the mail today about how to raise and care for chickens...hope to be gathering fresh eggs this fall. Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your sweet message.

ReplyDeleteSandra, Thanks for stopping by. My husband took that great picture one fine spring afternoon. We love our circa 1865 limestone house and had a great time restoring it. We love to come here and feel fortunate to be able to share it with friends and family. It has a wonderful history.

I thought about your trip and wondered if you had left or maybe were still home. So sorry for the delay but at least everyone is safe and not stranded in a strange place.
ReplyDeleteThe eggs are so pretty, I just love the colors. I know what you mean about the ORANGE yolk. A friend of mine raised chickens and she used to give her chickens table scraps too and the yolks were pumpkin orange. I made pasta with her eggs and yep my pasta was orange!
So funny Michelle. I haven't tried pasta with the fresh eggs. Maybe I should on Halloween.
