Socks Rock!

I am knitting socks. Me, who has always said, "Why would anyone in their right mind knit their own socks when they can buy perfectly good ones at Nordstrom"?

No, I have not lost my mind. I took a class from the Wool Cabin, taught by Jane. She is so nice and extemely patient. I finally caught on, after a bit of tinking and ripping. To make matters even more difficult, these socks are knit on size one needles, the smallest size made. But the result of this small needle is that they are tightly knit which = warmth! One sock is done, and the other is well on the way, which is a good thing because my last class is today. Most socks are knit from the top down, but these are knit from the bottom up. The advantage to this method is that you can make them to fit, exactly. VOILA! Custom socks; a very good reason to make your own. I have a size 6 1/2 shoe and the socks I buy are always too long, and bunch inside my shoe. This method is the answer.

I can't say I love the process, but I am loving theresult. There might be more socks in the pipeline ...if I can just finish the one on the needles!

  1. My daughter would LOVE if I made socks. She likes fun ones, but has a hard time finding ones that fit well.

Beautiful home and setting in that title pic!!! I saw you on Utah Hive. How fun to have another blog to read.
