Saving September

I'm in a quilt group that has a fall retreat at a beautiful cabin owned by a member.  Every year someone reads the poem, "Saving September".  I missed the retreat this year so this week I am saving September all by myself.

We only have one grapevine left at the Homestead since the Concord vine didn't make it through last winter, but the Niagra grapes were prolific this year.
I got 9 quarts of grape juice to add to some more Pioneer Plum jelly.
That's the jelly in the foreground.  This batch didn't jell so I reprocessed it according to the directions on the pectin package.  We'll see what happens.  I've never had a batch not jell.  Maybe we'll have 6 jars of pancake syrup.  One jar in front will need to be used now as I didn't have enough to make a full jar.  It did seal however.

Saving September...this jelly and juice will taste good this winter.

Come back to see what I'm saving tomorrow.

I had a batch of jelly that did not gel...I did not realize you could reprocess. I will remember that-

Either way, you'll have some September goodness to enjoy this winter.

  7. I am sure that it will taste great as jelly or syrup - lets face it either of them is going to be great. Are you going to plant another grape to replace the one you lost? Happy saving September xx
