I've been wanting a carved ark with animals for a long time and who better to make it than my father? So last winter I commissioned him to build us an Ark, thinking it would take a while. He really embraced the challenge and delivered this to us a few weeks ago. He's a terrific artist and carver and he's carving more animal pairs. Since Dad would rather carve than paint, I'm tackling that.
I'll be back with more photos, probably MUCH LATER.........It's a big project.
Wish me luck.
That is an absolutely fabulous piece of work - looking forward to more pictures [close ups of some animals, please!]

ReplyDeleteThis is great! I had a craft book at one point that had a ark pattern in it. I cannot find it. Wanted hubs to build one for all those plastic animals what I have for the grands here.
ReplyDeleteIt's really a beautiful, skillfully handcrafted piece. The animals are amazing. I like them plain, but I'm sure your painting will add such detail.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness gracious! I have seen his Santas before, but wow, this is something special. I wonder about keeping the animals plain too. The ark is beautiful too. What a labor of love! Joni
ReplyDeleteWow, Bonnie! The ark is gorgeous! Have fun painting the animals!
ReplyDeleteOh, don't paint them. They are lovely au naturel!
