Where did July go?
I did get the flour sack quilt finished in time to hang in the quilt show.
And I spent a long time standing still-as-a-statue in my kitchen garden waiting for the never-before-seen-in-our-parts Roufus hummingbird (he has the most beautiful brown body with a neon orange throat) to land on his favorite poppy seed pod. When he finally got within a foot of my camera........the battery died. I did get a few photos from farther away. Thank you beautiful hummingbird for providing such beauty.
A pair of warm winter socks finally came off the needles and an old project was revisited.
Abby, I'm still working on the petit point Christmas stocking.
This terrific group of young adults spent the 24th of July holiday weekend with us. So much fun to have them.
And I have a huge teaching project coming up. No wonder July disappeared. Hope your July was fabulous.

Hi Bonnie! Your flour sack quilt is BEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteOh, the hummingbird is stunning, too! I have this app on my phone called iBirdPro and I called the goldfinches this morning with the song feature. They came very close! You could call the hummingbirds!
It looks like you are enjoying your peeps this summer!
I saw the rufus hummer in my yard this summer in early July. They only just pass through here now and then, but what a thrill! Your hummer had so many nice flowers to sip from!
ReplyDeleteLove that flour sack quilt. Can we have another full-length picture of it at the quilt show?
Happy faces. So nice to see.
Love the new banner. It makes me want to walk into it and explore.
Happy August!
Jody
Oh my Bonnie what a crazy month you have had but it looked like such fun ! I love humming birds and that guy was a beauty. Please take a full picture of your quilt. Love your new opening picture.
ReplyDeleteYour bee balm is gorgeous, and so is the hummingbird!
ReplyDeleteJuly just up and disappeared on us! It looks like you made good use of it though -- I can't wait to see the finished quilt. Happy August!
ReplyDeleteWow, such a busy time, you have my head spinning. In my part of the world, I am just longing for spring to arrive.
ReplyDeleteLook how busy you have been! Socks look cozy and the quilt, what I can see, looks wonderful....
ReplyDeleteI just hate it when the battery dies -- at always such pivotal moment. You have been busy with your crafts. I love your header photo, I am assuming it is your country home. My July was not an exciting one, so I can live vicariously through yours. Joni
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the kind comments. The new photo on the header is the old original window in the stone house. When we enclosed the window with the new kitchen addition we decided to close it in from the back and add shelves. It's a little bit of history from the original back of the house.
ReplyDeleteTime flies when you're having fun, right? :) Good job getting some shots of the pretty little hummingbird!
