Done and Done

I posted a photo of a large rectangle in front of our leather sofa last post.  It was confusing to some of you readers.

Does it make more sense now?  The light was not good but you get the idea.

Here's a "before" photo of our hand-grained pioneer sofa.  It's pine, grained to look like walnut and it's dark in color.  The bricks on the floor were salvaged from an old livery stable and the old cushion cover blended too much with them.  I love how the new fabric has circular designs that speak to the penny pitch game board on the wall.

The striped fabric looked colorful to me at the store.  Well, not so much in the room; it reads brown.

5 years later: I couldn't stand it anymore.  We really like the new upholstery job so much better.  I think it brightens up the mud room immensely.  Now to make a few new pillow covers to go with the seat.  Blue I think.

The braided rug is moving upstairs to a bedroom.  And now I need to get going to on the bed coverings for that room.  It never ends.

  1. Aha! NOW I get it! I was going to ask you what a pioneer sofa was -- thanks for the picture. It's beautiful -- and your new fabric choice is perfect. I LOVE it!!! (And no. It definitely never ends. I can't even imagine with two houses either. I figure, by the time I get the house the way I want it, it will be time to start over again in the rooms that were done first. {Sigh} Oh well, it keeps us busy, right?)

  2. Love the brick floor! Yes to Blue pillows! Post a pic when you add your pillows to the couch. Don't you just love it when a project comes together and looks better than you imagined!

  3. There is such joy in blessing others with the works of our hands, isn't there, and stepping back to appreciate and enjoy it ourselves. Keep up the good work, Bonnie. You are an inspiration! :l

  4. It is beautiful Bonnie. The new cushion sets the bricks off perfectly and that rug. I think you need to make another for the room up stairs and leave that one where it is! [ just a small thing, " make another rug" ] :-)

  6. Thanks for your kind comments. I love the bricks we picked out for the floor as well, but I found out the hard way that they can overpower the room. Live and learn.

  7. What a difference. I love the bright colors and how it brings out the checkerboard too. And then there's the rug! Great job.
