How can you tell if you are a family member of a food blogger?

Looks pretty good, right? It wasn't. I definitely won't post the recipe for this wild Asian salmon. Awful. I did have some amazingly wonderful food on a recent trip to New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and upstate New York. No recipes but lovely photos. Perhaps you'll be inspired.
The amazing lobster roll from a road-side sandwich place in New Hampshire (can't even remember the name of the nondescript place). Best surprise of the trip.
This was my second favorite meal; the fresh local striped sea bass from Jasper White's Summer Shack in Boston.
Summer Shack was the hippest, trendiest restaurant we went to. I loved the lobster tank and the big open kitchen. And the food was terrific, which is the most important thing.
I saved my favorite meal for last. The photo doesn't begin to do justice to the sweet, fresh, grilled local scallops at Finz on the waterfront in Salem, Massachusetts. I could eat this meal every day (I loved it that much).
We had a lot of good food. These were the highlights for me. I tried to remember these meals last night as I chucked the salmon
into the garbage can.
Sounds like your trip was filled with wonderful seafood. I am sooo disappointed when I have spend the time and money on a new dish and it fails. Believe me, my family tells me about it too...discussions around the dinner table arent' pleasant. Have a great day. Joni
ReplyDeleteI sure wish you could remember the name of that restaurant where you got the amazing lobster roll. I live in NH and would love to eat there sometime. It looks delicious! In fact, everything does. That's the sign of a good vacation. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteYum! Yum! Yum! The lobster and the scallops look beautiful! We went to a little tavern last night and I had a pear, Gorgonzola cheese, and walnut salad (minus the walnuts for me because they make my mouth hurt) with a tiny bit of grilled chicken on top. Oh, with a light vinaigrette as well. Delicious! When I was home, my mom baked a salmon and it really wasn't tasty enough. I go back to grilling it with lots of butter and garlic. That's how I love my salmon. The fish at the meat counter has been gorgeous lately and I could eat seafood every day. Too bad the men like cow meat so much! Ha ha ha! I love your posts, good Bonnie!

ReplyDeleteSorry about the salmon. That's the fun of trying new recipes though -- some are good and some aren't. And Lobster Rolls! Why oh why can't we get them everywhere else in this country. Fresh seafood is definitely my favorite part of visiting the East Coast -- there's nothing like it!

ReplyDeleteI love going East for just the food. It is WONDERFUL. When I goto Chicago we only eat in ethic restaurants and it is like taking a trip around the world for me.
