Friendship exchange basket blocks

I thought you might like to see the exchange blocks I brought home from my quilt group this week; so fun and diverse.
Each quilter picked a basket pattern to be set on-point (diagonally).  It had to coordinate with the primary color focus fabric that was chosen and had to measure 8 1/2 " including seam allowances.  The technique could be anything as long as it fit the afore-mentioned criteria.  The quilters made 19 blocks of a pattern of their choice and then we swapped.  We now have a block from each of our friends and no two are alike.

Look at the fabulous offerings!  They are hand-pieced, foundation-pieced, original designs, applique (both by hand and machine) and some traditional patterns.  Isn't it great how the makers personality shows through so loudly in the design choices they made on their blocks.  It will be even more delightful to see how each woman sets hers together into her quilt.  I'll keep you posted!
