Garrett's for Valentines Day

Garretts is a Chicago institution.  And while nothing compares to the just-made fresh caramel corn right in their storefronts, getting a Garrett's package in the mail is a close second.  Garretts is most famous for their caramel corn, but they also make cheese corn and plain buttered corn. Their best selling package is a mixture of cheese and caramel corn, which I think is a bit odd.  It reminds me of a child who stirs their peas and mashed potatoes together on their plate.  I prefer the caramel corn, all by itself, just warm from the kettle.

Mr. City Home had a 1/2 gallon of chocolate covered caramel corn sent in a Valentine  Day bucket.  It's going fast.  The girls are home for the weekend.

What's your favorite Valentine treat?

  1. Bonnie -- what a great Valentine gift! I have never heard of Garrett's before. I believe one of yours lives in Chicago...? I love the new header -- is that gorgeous red barn yours. It looks so wonderful in the snowy background. I love red barns. Joni

  2. Joni, No relatives in Chicago. We stopped into Garretts on a trip to Chicago years ago and we have been mail ordering the popcorn ever since.

That red barn is actually our neighbors garage/studio. It's what we see from our kitchen window. Isn't it beautiful?
