New Years Resolutions

I know I'm a bit late in posting my New Year's resolutions but being timely wasn't one of them, so I won't apologize.  I really only made one and it's the same as the one I made last year.

In 2010, I decided to spend part of each day attempting to finish "in-progress" projects and not to start any new ones until all of the old ones were done.  I actually did quite well.  Among the things I accomplished was making 24 zippered cushions for some sofas and some of the beds, and I also finished one entire bedroom project (my daughters toile room: shades, comforter covers along with shams, decorative pillows, and bed skirts).

Two hand embroidered red work pillow shams for two of the beds at the homestead were finally finished and assembled.

I did start a few new projects (and actually finished them) while I dutifully kept working on the old ones.
There was this one.  It's done and I will post a photo of the finished baby jacket one day soon.

And remember this one?

...OK, I started it last year (I know, I know, but I couldn't help myself).  It's still not done, so it becomes part if this years resolution.

I did manage to start and finish this,

along with 1 1/2 pairs (don't ask) of hand knit socks and a needlepoint Christmas stocking for my husband.  Daughter #4's Christmas stocking is still "in progress", much to her dismay.  I'm still plugging away at this

...it is shown here on the granary bed because our property was photographed for an up-coming coffee table book about Early American country homes.  I might be hand-quilting this quilt until I die (and I'm not exaggerating).  But I did finish all the bolsters and cushions for the brass trundle bed in the granary guest house that I sewed with the left-over antique flour sacks that were not used in the quilt.

A friend once told me she needed a hobby. What I need is more hours in the day.  Until then, my New Year's Resolution for this year is the same as last. I think one of my problems is that I enjoy the process of doing the needlework probably more than the progress of the project itself.  I'm not usually in much of a hurry.  I'll let you know how I do on this years resolution.  The concept is a good one, don't you think?  What are your New Years Resolutions?

So I'm off to work on an un-finished project...right after I take a quick look those knitting books I checked out of the public library yesterday.

  1. Bonnie, You are AMAZING! Is there anything you can't(and don't)do? (I kind of feel like a slouch:)) I have no doubt that you'll reach your goal.
That's so exciting that your home will be in a book! I'd love to hear about it when it's published, and maybe I can buy my own copy:) Have a great week!

  2. Sue, There are many, many things I can't do. I'm one of those people who are a jack of all trades but a master of none. And I've seen your baked goods. No one decorates a cookie like you!

  4. Bonnie -- you have been incredibly productive! I don't do any of these projects -- well I did start a Patriotic blanket years ago and never finished it...and probably won't. I am not a sewer, knitter, and crocheter and I am raising girls who don't know how to do these things -- which I am NOT happy about! How great that your country home is being featured in a book!
