The Christmas Fairy

When I was a child, we had magical Christmases.  There wasn't much money, and we had a lot of homemade decorations but my parents made the season magical for us.  Many of the activities we did focused on opportunities for service, but we always went to the Christmas village in our town and there were many excursions to see holiday lights and Nativity scenes and certainly our share of Christmas parties.  We made or crafted many of our gifts back then.  We delighted in making or choosing "just the right gift".  Things were so much simpler then.  I think of those long ago Christmases when I look at this box.  The beautiful child-angel does more than promote soap, she promises magic.  And we all need more magic in our lives.  I look forward to a wonderful holiday season this year, with the opportunity to focus on Christ and his love,  and to to take the opportunity to share our bounty with others.  We should never lose the child-like anticipation for this beautiful holiday.  I am making time to celebrate the real meaning of the Christmas season.

A month ago, we bought this vintage pine store display box from one of our favorite antique shops.  It has sustained some major water damage but we loved the graphic on the inside of the lid.  She is in sad condition but there is something magical about the child angel (She doesn't look like a fairy to me).   Bruce oiled the box well and we've decided to leave the pine unstained.  I'm off to get some supplies to refurbish the inside and to stabilize the angel on the underside of the lid.

We thought to store the Christmas ornaments in it but we love it so much that we'll find a way to display it during the holidays too.

Your Christmas Fairy Angel box is lovely. I too remember magical Christmas's in my family. Since their were soo many of us children we had to be creative in gift giving and we were.It always seemed to snow Christmas Eve just in time for church and welcome Jesus into the world with a birthday song. Loved it.

Hi Bonnie!
Now you might've been racing to the things that I found, but I definitely would've been racing you for this one! *winks* What a wonderful find! She is special indeed! And does bring back memories of a Christmas time long ago when things were more simple....And Christmas decorations weren't put out until the day after Thanksgiving...When suddenly everything was magically transformed. I miss those days *winks* Vanna
